Attic Mold in Armonk NY

Below we have before and after pictures of a Attic mold in Armonk NY.  As you can see in the before photos the sheathing was quite stained and heavy with mold.  Mold in an attic is a byproduct of poor attic ventilation and the accumulation of moisture.  This happens in the winter when warm moist air from the house rises and enters the attic through vents and gaps.  Normally this warm moist air would be removed via circulation of the air and out through the vents, but often there is a problem.  Clogged sofits, a poor design when an addition was built, over insulation, or just plain too much stuff piled up there can cause the air to not circulate.  When the air fails to circulate the moisture condenses on the interior of the roof making it damp and allowing for mold growth.  In this case there had been an addition to the house and no one thought of adding any vents. We came in ans assessed the situation and decided that a treatment of double activated Cal-Brite would do the job.  We sealed off the attic door and began our treatment.  The time elapsed between the two photos was 2 hours.  As you can see it was quite effective, and over time will be even more effective until you can’t tell that anything ever happened.  The attic will still need proper ventilation but the mold has been mitigated.
